at the summit

i apologize, as usual, for not posting in 2394872934 years. not that people really read this... anyways. i know it was a long time ago but for president's day weekend i went skiing at mt. bachelor. it was amazing.... the weather was perfect and i pretty much ran the summit for 3 days straight. like i said, the weather was perfect and i couldn't help but take pictures. it was one of those moments where you are so very happy to be alive so you can see all this stuff. and then take pictures of it.

anyways, here we go with some of the pictures i took... as always click for bigger.

bike me.

i've always considered myself to be somewhat of a hippie. before the green thing became mass-media, my family has always recycled and tried to be kind to the environment. we got a prius within the first few months they were available here, and, especially within this last year, my interest and drive to become more eco-friendly has become borderline obsession.

recently, as i have perused the archives of facehunter and sartorialist, i've noticed pictures of well-dressed people riding their bikes around the city in places all over the world. as fossil fuels are, as we all know, steadily declining, man-powered transportation is becoming more critical. these people seem to have it figured out, yet take the liberty of skipping the spandex as they pedal around town. i've decided to post some pictures of these well-dressed bikers, and hope their great style and eco-friendly transportation will inspire you [yes, that's right, all 2 of you who might stumble upon this blog] to skip the car and ride a bike or take mass transportation on your next adventure.

out my window.

so when i made this blog i decided that i was going to be a bunch of whatever i feel like. well, today i feel like sharing some pictures that i have taken outside my bedroom window. i know that might sound lame and boring, but you've got to trust me here. the sky outside my window is, in my opinion, one of the miracles of the world. k that sounded a little preachy but still... it's gorgeous. and because a picture is worth a thousand words.... i have a few....

j'adore frances

i'd like to start off by explaining that i do not speak or take any french, and apologize if my spelling or attempt at a short phrase was a disaster. also, i am sorry for not posting for about 239874298374 years. mainly it is because i have been completely unmotivated since i don't think anyone actually reads this thing. so if you do, PLEASE COMMENT!!!!!! i don't care if it's criticism or nothing important to say, but to hear that someone actually read this would be fantastic.

moving on the point of this post: i have been cast under the spell of french exchange students. last wednesday, a group of them arrived at my school and amazed me with their fantastic style and sexy accents. the greatest, of course, was the group of french guys now inhabiting my school. their leather shoes, nice jeans, long, wool coats and wintry scarves made me fall in love. how all of them can look so effortlessly classy and chic has proved to be a challenge and task i hope to complete.

since i don't have any real pictures of the french exchange students at my school [that would be a bit creepy, you know...] i have, in honor of jordan, paul, adrian, benji, camille, erica, margot, and the other exchange students who i don't know the names of, i present to you a series of street style pictures from the fantasyland we like to call france.

and because he was just too beautiful...

UNIFORMS?!?!

this is it. my school is doing it. they are 'reviewing and revising' our dress code. what exactly does this mean?? anything. one option: joining throngs of private catholic high schools around the world in uniforming their students. my first thought?? dread. gone will be the freedom of expression through what i wear, the freedom to make fun of the label whores [oh, did i really say that?? whoops] and the ability to easily differentiate between individuals.

the show that has changed my view on uniforms entirely is gossip girl. it seems that people either love it or hate it. some say they like the clothes, others say they think all they wear is expensive and tasteless. rather than sitting here arguing either way, i will show you outfits serena van der woodsen has worn to school on the show that i think are fantastic ways to wear a uniform. if i must don a plaid skirt daily, i would love to wear it in the same ways as she does. err, how the show's stylist says she will...

extraordinary in the ordinary

these are things that have recently inspired me... hopefully they will for you. i'm not really into runway fashions; while their creators are masterminds, i think the real geniuses behind it all come from ordinary people living their lives. so, i bring you a random assortment of ordinary people who i find fascinating. enjoy!!

p.s. so that i am not plagiarizing: none of these photographs were taken by me. they are all from fashion blogs or other people's posts.
